Competency 08: The impact of finishing on the production of Furniture Manufacturing

                                                60 hours

Students are expected to analyze the impact of the finishing process on Manufacturing  Furniture in accordance with the following conditions and criteria.

Conditions 

• Following instructions
• Using sample boards and then projects built in previous Competency 05,06  
• Using materials such as Lacquer, Stains and Dyes
• Using the appropriate equipment to apply coatings  
• Using this Blog as a documentation  and research tool
• Frugal and economical use of materials 

 Elements and Criteria of the competency 

• Observance of strict occupational health and safety rules
• Become Familiar with the type of finish  ( Lacquer )
• Predict the impact of sanding on the required finish
• Test the sanding and the finishing Process
• Take the finish into account during the Preliminary assembly
• Check the compliance of the finish

Evaluation

Students will be evaluated on their execution of specific tasks or behaviours

1.1 Accurate identification of finishing processes 
1.2 Accurate distinction between the products to be used
1.3 Appropriate determination of health and safety measures  

2.1 Identification of the quality of the sanding required 

3.1 Accurate anticipation of potential problems 
3.2 Relevant solutions to the problems anticipated
